It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Helen Lucille (Burd) Frasco, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. She passed away on November 30, 2025, under the thoughtful care of The Lakes of Monclova and Hospice of Northwest Ohio, at the age of 87.
Born on February 1, 1938, in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, Helen was the fifth of eleven children born to Rosie (Baker) and Vernie Burd. She grew up in Mesa, Arizona, leaving there before her senior year of high school, for southern California, where she graduated from Mira Costa High School, in Manhattan Beach, California.
In November 1957, she met the love of her life, Nino Frasco. On February 1, 1958, on her 20th birthday, they were married. The two of them were inseparable, and best friends every day of their lives together. They started a family and lived for over fifty years in Orange County, California, before moving to Ohio in 2017, to be closer to family.
Helen dedicated her life to her family. She and Nino raised three boys. She worked various office jobs until the 1970’s when she found her unique talent, entrepreneurship and selling. She opened a takeout restaurant with a neighbor and friend. They became famous together. Shortly after selling the restaurant, in the 1980’s, she started a very successful upholstery and interior design company. This company was her passion for more than thirty years. She knew nothing about selling but was an avid learner. There were memories of her taking pages of notes while listening to a reel-to-reel tape on selling. She didn’t stop selling until she was well into her eighties, making her final pitches setting sales records at Costco stores in southern California and Ohio.
She loved to cook, play cards, and visit with family and friends. She and Nino created a ‘home away from home’ for the friends of their boys and many family members over the years, including her beloved brothers, Allen and Dewayne, and especially her Uncle Joe (Matlock), who was like a big brother to her and Nino. Helen grew up with ten brothers and sisters and raised three boys. She expected a lot of them and gave more. She was famous for her playful retorts and endless generosity.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Martin, her sisters and brothers, Gladys (Goude), Vernie, Virginia, Virgil, Lois (Rahn), Lavon (Guillory), Frances (Engleka), Mike, and Dewayne. She is survived by her loving husband, Nino; her children, Mark (Kathleen) and Michael (Diane); her grandchildren, Lynn (Erika), Thalia, and Nicholas (Cameron); her great-grandchild Benjamin (Benny) Frasco; and her brother, Allen, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
The family has chosen to celebrate Helen's life privately, with immediate family only.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
