Harry Douglas Oakman better known as Doug or “Step” was born in Lima, Ohio on May 22, 1962. He married Tina (Barron) Oakman in 2003. Douglas passed away at home on Friday, June 3, 2022. He was preceded in death by his dad, Harry (Jim) Oakman, wife Tina, niece Carissa Oakman, and several aunts and uncles. He was also preceded by his loved Dobermans and best friends Bandit, Harley, Duke and Ruby. He is survived by his mother, Sondra Oakman, sister Tami (Jim) Smith, brother Dennie (Christina) Oakman, sister Lisa (Mark) Bostelman, nephews Jordan and Denver Oakman, nieces Taylor (Andy) Lee, Morgan (Christopher) Kirkpatrick, and Gabrielle Oakman; step nephew and nieces James, Tabitha and Ciera Smith, great nephews Ryker, Rhett, Jonathan and Malek, great niece Amarah, and Buddy, his four-year-old Doberman. Doug attended Elida High School and received an associates degree in business and culinary arts. While living in Florida in 1984, he became an electrician for an apartment complex. In 1987, he had a tragic motorcycle accident in Florida. After three months in the hospital, he returned to Ohio to be with family. Although, he struggled with his injuries from his accident, that did not prevent him from doing things he loved. He was always building, repairing, and doing whatever needed to be done until the end. He always loved the wind in his face. He graduated from his gold Schwinn banana seat bike to his Harley Sportster. He loved the water and venturing the river and lake on his two motorboats and his pontoon boat. A private graveside service will be held later for family.
