Harold R. Greathouse, 88, passed away peacefully on June 13th, 2023 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo surrounded by his family.
Bud was born in Triplett, WV on April 17th, 1935 to Harry and Beulah. He was a graduate of Spencer High School in West Virginia in 1952 and served in the US Air Force from 1957 – 1961.
Bud married his wife Nancy on January 9th, 1960 and they were married for over 63 years.
Bud also worked at GM Powertrain for 30 years and in retirement managed rental properties and repaired vehicles.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Garnett and her son Tommy, as well as his nephew Phil who helped Bud in a multitude of jobs.
Bud is survived by his wife Nancy; brother, Jim; son, Rob; daughter, Susan; granddaughters, Kylie and Kassie; sister-in-law, Noreen, and nephews, Brian and Jym.
Watching Mud Hens, Walleye and UT Rockets games kept Bud busy. He also enjoyed stock market investing, repairing cars and watching horse racing (His nephew Brian brought him souvenir glasses from the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks every year).
Bud will be remembered as someone who would do anything for anyone. He was known for treating his friends to drinks and meals as well as helping his friends, family and neighbors out in any way he could. Bud was a very social person who could befriend anyone from the Jehovah’s witnesses that would periodically come to visit his home to his many coworkers, neighbors and acquaintances who became lifelong friends.
A life celebration will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Perrysburg, 6165 Levis Commons Blvd, Perrysburg, OH 43551 from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm on Saturday, June 24th, 2023.
