Greta E (Schneider) Pollman

Greta E. (Schneider) Pollman, age 101, of Toledo, passed away November 4, 2010 . She was born March 23, 1909 in Berlin, Germany and came to the United States in 1926. She first settled in Kendallville, IN before coming to Toledo. Gretas first job was cleaning homes in West Toledo and she remembered a big church being built on the corner of Collingwood and Isllington. She also worked at East Side Hospital and during WW II she worked at The Overland. After the war, she worked in The Canteen. She loved to play the mandolin and was a member of The Turner Club. Greta also loved to wear her traditional German Dirndl dress and polka at The German American Festival. Some of her other enjoyments included: bowling, traveling and making apple kugen. She spent her retirement gardening and enjoying the companionship of her two cats. The family would like to give a heart-felt thanks to the staff at St. Lukes ER department ,Hospice of Northwest Ohio “Sam”, Swanton Valley and Waterford Commons. Greta is survived by her son Ralph (Donna) Schneider; three grandchildren: Jackie (Daryl) Eckel, Sandra (James) Brunt and Roy (Jamye) Schneider and five great-grandchildren.
