Gregory William Lockrey, 77, passed away on October 7, 2025 in Sylvania, OH after a short stay in Hospice.
Greg was born on November 24, 1948 to Gordon Lockrey and George Ann Lockrey (Cline) in Toledo, OH and grew up in Bedford Michigan where he graduated high school in 1967. After attending Michigan State University from 1967-1969, where he majored in Geophysics and Mathematics with aspirations in oceanography, he joined the U.S. Navy. Greg served from 1970-1978 aboard the USS Albany CG-10, a guided missile cruiser that served as a flagship for the U.S. Sixth Fleet, where he was a Lead Petty Officer in the electrical division. While in the Navy, he was deployed overseas where he met his firs wife in Italy. After leaving the military, in 1979, Greg came back to the United States and worked as an electrician while attending BGSU, where he received a full scholarship for his bachelor’s degree in photography and fine art.
Greg had 3 daughters during his first marriage. He was an eclectic man with a boisterous personality, who loved to share his many passions in life. Greg was a huge lover of dogs and outdoor activities, such as fishing, photography, shooting his guns, and bicycling. As an avid bicyclist, he entered many marathons and earned several awards of honor.
Greg enjoyed talking about current events, stocks and trading, but most of all he loved talking about art. He spent many years in photography and painting before opening his own printing business in 2000, where he could enable other artists to create special prints of their artwork.
Greg is survived by his 3 daughters: Romina (Lockrey) Schwartz and her husband Rick Schwartz, Veronica (Lockrey) O'Neill, Illyce Lockrey; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; his brother, Dennis Lockrey; sister, Dawn (Lockrey) Niswender; and sister, Shawn (Lockrey) Pollman. He was preceded in death by both his parents; his brother, Brian Lockrey; and his second wife, Linda (Skinner) Lockrey.
No memorial will be held at this time. Greg's wishes were to be cremated and his ashes to be scattered with his late wife.
In lieu of flowers, family asks you to donate to the Toledo Humane Society, due to Greg's love for animals. https://toledohumane.org/give
