Gordon A. Strand

Gordon A. Strand, 89, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. He was born August 19, 1919 in Oak Park, Illinois. A veteran of the US Marine Corps, Gordon served as a cartographer in the Pacific theater during World War II. He was a commercial artist and industrial designer, working both independently and for Owens Illinois until his retirement in 1984. He was an avid fisherman and accomplished stained glass artist. Gordon was a current member of All Saints Lutheran Church and a 60 year member of Damascus Collingwood Lodge F&AM Mason of Ohio. He was preceded in death by his brothers Bert and Allen, and sister Alice Pedersen. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Kathryn R. and daughters Darby La Voie, Louisiana, Kathryn Leigh Strand, Toledo and Maribeth Trosello, Montana, 3 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, nieces and nephews. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Expressions of sympathy can be made to the donors charity of choice or to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
