The Lord called Ginna Marie Wilcoxen home early on Wednesday July 28, 2021. Ginna (t’Tal) was born on June 16th, 1960 and was adopted by Barney Raymond Shofner and Mae Prater in Louisville, Kentucky. Ginna moved to Monroe, Michigan with her family before settling in Toledo, Ohio. On March 12th, 1980, Ginna gave birth to her first-born son, Montgomery Scott Hammell, whom she loved and cherished more than life. Scott preceded his mother in death on November 03rd, 2017. Ginna married her second husband, Ronald Lerue Wilcoxen, Sahav, on April 05th, 1982. Ron preceded his wife in death on November 30th, 2011 due to complications of cancer treatment. They met as Star Trek penpals in 1977 and quickly formed a long-distance friendship. From their Star Trek fandom, they were known as t’Tal and Sahav; a Romulan and Vulcan who dared to engage in love. Ginna and Ron shared a variety of genre interests from collecting comic books, science fiction, fantasy, and horror in art, film, music, and storytelling. Together they added onto their family with the birth of their daughter, Amanda. Throughout her life, Ginna went onto many careers; the definition of a jack of all trades. During a time that fought to constrain women in the workforce, Ginna clawed her way into various fields from secretary, truck driving, stenography, and retail. Her last career ended as a dispatcher at Republic Services. While striving to balance a life in the workforce and a mother of two, Ginna was fiercely passionate about writing, gaming with close friends, and attending conventions. Her passion of becoming an author stayed with her until her final days. Throughout her ups and downs, she always looked towards Jesus to give her strength. Ginna is survived by her daughter Amanda (Wilcoxen) Morgan, son-in-law Bobby Morgan Sr, son by love of gaming, John Wesley, daughter-in-law-Nicole (Jabbour) Hammell, grandson Zachary, and granddaughter Alexa. Memorial donations are suggested to be given to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and/or cancer treatment for Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. A celebration of Ginna/t’Tal’s life will be held privately at a future date.
