Gertrude Anne Dunham

Gertrude Anne Dunham, age 85, passed away May 24, 2011. She was born August 22, 1925 in Akron, to Albert and Gertrude (Curley) Krueger. She was a 1943 graduate of Oak Harbor High School and had attended yearly class reunions the last 20 years. She was also a 1946 graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. Gertrude married John B. Dunham on September 20, 1947 and they had 4 children: John, Winifred, Christopher and Timothy. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1963 and her beloved son, Timothy, in 2002. Her nursing career continued at Maumee Valley Hospital, Mercy Hospital, Colonial Nursing Home and MCO, before retiring in 1991. Gert was a devout Catholic attending weekly services at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Church. She enjoyed Wednesday lunches with her Compass Club group and occasional lunches with her Business and Professional Womens Group. Gert was greatly loved by everyone who knew her. She will be loved and remembered especially for her ability to see only the best in anyone she met. Her unconditional love was there for everyone she met. She was always sweet and understanding to everyone, always amazing friends and family with her uncanny ability to come up with appropriate poem or saying at just the right time. We will miss her sharp wit and gentle sense of humor. Gert was a great woman, mother, nurse and friend. The world is a little dimmer without her shining light. She is survived by her 3 children: John (Michele) Dunham, Christopher Dunham and Winifred Dunham; grandchildren: Robin V. Fisher, John F. Dunham and Julia H. Dunham and 7 great-grandchildren; brother, John (Maria) Krueger; sisters: Dorothea Koczan, Delores Browder, Ellen (Donn) Moore along with many nieces ,nephews and many many loving extended family and friends.
