Gerald “Jerry” Arnold McDonald, age 87, passed away on January 18, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was born March 8, 1936, the son of Edward and Dorothy McDonald. Both of his parents preceded him in death. Jerry was 1 of 10 children, he has 6 brothers and 3 sisters. Jerry married the love of his life, Shirley, on October 1, 1955, spending 68 years together. Jerry coached football for over 15 years for the North Toledo Old Timers Association, and worked at Nabisco for 38 years, before his retirement. Jerry and his wife, Shirley, played on many bowling leagues throughout the years, and he often enjoyed fishing and working in his garden. Jerry was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions, and Michigan Wolverines.
Jerry, a son, brother, husband, uncle, dad, and grandfather. Affectionately called “Grampy” and “Papa” by his grandchildren, was also a follower of faith, he willingly sacrificed, served and supported those he loved.
Left to cherish his memories include his loving wife, Shirley; three daughters, Debbie Hatch, Diane Kindle, and Darlene McDonald; 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Tom and Denny McDonald.
