Georgia Schumacher

May 15, 1933 — July 15, 2025

On Tuesday morning, July 15, 2025, Georgia Ferne Schumacher entered her eternal rest and reunited with her soulmate, Paul, at the gates of heaven. Born on August 15, 1933, in Franklin, Ohio, Georgia lived a life rich in stories and adventure—and she never hesitated to share them with those around her. Her feisty, ornery spirit remained with her until her final days.

Georgia leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and wanderlust. She married her beloved husband, Paul, in June of 1953, and together they raised three children, Russ, Kathy, and Dan. They were blessed with six grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Georgia and Paul loved deeply and were immensely proud of the family they built. Their passion for adventure and travel became a cherished family trait, passed down through generations who now carry on their love of discovering new places.

Throughout her life, Georgia held many jobs, but she treasured the variety of experiences each one brought. She embraced every opportunity with joy and curiosity. In early retirement, she and Paul traveled widely, often rockhounding and exploring the outdoors. One of her most cherished adventures was discovering the gold camp in Alaska, where they spent many summers helping, working, laughing, and making memories. Georgia was always ready to lend a hand, crack a joke, and leave a lasting impression on everyone she met.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; youngest son, Daniel; granddaughter, Lisa; sister, Shirley; and her parents, George and Vesta.

True to her independent spirit, Georgia made one final request—not to make a big deal of her passing. As she once said, she had “one heck of a welcoming crew when it’s [her] time.” Per her wishes, there will be no funeral or formal gathering.

In her honor, the family encourages all to live life without regrets and to fill your days with experiences worth remembering.

As Georgia often reflected, it’s not the physical possessions you hold onto in the end—it’s the memories. And in that way, she considered herself truly lucky.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help offset final expenses
