George Norman Stefango was a thoughtful, warmhearted, and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He left this world peacefully on February 19, 2023, at age 80. George passed from congestive heart failure. Despite the health complications that he faced in the end stages, he remained light-hearted and witty.
George was born to George and Florence Stefango on June 29, 1942. After graduating from Ottawa Hills High School, George went on to study Business at Miami University, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree. During his time at Miami University, George was a member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. He then went on to receive his master’s from the University of Toledo. George was also a member of the Air National Guard. George had an experienced professional career where he spent time at Owens Corning, Cupp Insurance, and Daniel James Insurance.
On May 6, 1967, George married the love of his life, Jacqueline “Jackie” Cupp. The two shared 55 beautiful years. Together they raised their two daughters, traveled, and simply enjoyed one another’s company.
A few of the things that George loved most in life include racing sailboats, cruising, and golfing at Belmont Country Club. George also had a fondness for wine and wineries.
George is preceded in death by his parents, George and Florence Stefango; brother, James Stefango (Jan); and brother-in-law, Charly Cupp, Jr (Christa).
He is remembered by his loving wife, Jackie (Cupp) Stefango; his daughters, Jennifer King (Casey) and Heather Hartford (Kevin); five grandchildren, Trevor, Connor, Emily, Tenley, and Tatum; brother, Denis Stefango (Eliane); sister, Janet Thieme (Tim); brother-in-law Ted Cupp (Kitty); and sister-in-law, Charlene O’Brien (Michael).
George was a reserved, kind, and sweet gentleman who cared deeply for his family and friends. A man who always put others before himself. He has left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and will be deeply missed.
A celebration of George’s life will be held in the spring.
