Gigi Metzger

July 24, 1945 — October 12, 2025

Toledo

Geordell “Gigi” (Litzenberg) Metzger passed away on October 12, 2025, at the age of 80 surrounded by her beloved family.

Gigi was born July 24, 1945, in Toledo, Ohio to George and Delphine (Wiza) Litzenberg. Gigi, to all who knew her, had a quick-witted sense of humor and a powerful devotion to her family. She was a Rogers High School graduate where she was a proud member of the trumpet section in the marching band.

Also known as Momma Gigi, she loved bingo, the fun of game shows, the freedoms of a great road trip, the thrill of hitting a jackpot on the slot machines, her family dinners and euchre tournaments. She also was an avid sports fan and loved watching The Ohio State Buckeyes, The Steelers, and the Buffalo Bills (or any team that her children/grandchildren played for throughout the years).

She is survived by her four loving children, Gregg (Ronnie) Shadle, Samanttha (Dave) Price, Georgette (Troy) Ritter, Chadd (David Verdugo) Shadle; grandchildren, Gregg Jr. (Zee) Shadle, Mistee (Josh) Fox, Justin (Tara) Price, Jacob (Marisa) Price, Bauer and Cameron Ritter; great grandchildren, Kinsley, Luka, Parker, Zara, Archer, Rhett, and Owen; Sister, Madonna Poturalski; nephews and nieces; Sister-in-Law, Maryellen Litzenberg; and many loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Metzger; brother, Jeff Litzenberg; brother-in-law, Melvin Poturalski.

Her life has been celebrated with loved ones during private services. The family would very much like to thank Hospice of Northwest Ohio; a special thanks to Lindsey for her compassion and special care; donations to the organization would be gratefully accepted in lieu of flowers.

From the family: “There are truly not enough words in all of the world’s languages that can express how missed you will be. There is a heavy sense of grief felt for those that never had the opportunity to experience the love that you gave so freely. From those who loved you, the very least that can be said is “thank you”. Thank you for allowing us the chance to hear the echoes of your laughter from the other room, to feel steady and gentle hands while guiding us, and to fill the emptiest parts of our lives with your unconditional love. We are who we are today because we knew you, and living to have known and cherish you is truly the best inheritance to have ever been received.”
