Genevieve M. Brack

Genevieve Mary Sahadi Brack, “Jennie” or “Gigi” to one and all, died December 1st, 2020, aged 90 years and 11 days, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio’s Toledo campus, following a months’ long struggle with pancreatic cancer. Born November 20th, 1930 at the family home on Chestnut Street in North Toledo, she attended St. Francis de Sales parish School, then Ursuline Academy and the former Harriet Whitney High School, where she studied Cosmetology. After high school, she worked as a hairdresser and also in administrative roles, including in positions at the former Rossford Ordnance Depot, The Toledo Clinic, and at Kaiser Jeep. She married Daniel David Brack in December, 1967, becoming a homemaker and residing in West Toledo. Dan and Jennie raised two sons, Steven and Eric. After retirement, they enjoyed traveling the country, both as tourists and to visit far-flung family. Jennie was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, Sophia (Orjil) and Solomon Sahadi, and her brothers Phillip, Alex, and James, and their wives. She is survived by her sons, by grandchildren Daniel, David, Derrick, and Nancy Jane, by nieces and nephews Darryl, Rick, Gary, Lisa, Alexa, and Darlene, by dozens of grandnieces and grandnephews and their children, by many cousins, and by her large circle of friends, including her neighbors at Brooklynn Park Villas, where she resided for the last six years. She attended Mass at Little Flower parish, and was previously a member of Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Clement parishes. Lively and perpetually in motion throughout her life, Jennie could often be found helping people, whether through her charitable work with ALSAC / St. Jude, or more directly, by cooking her trademark Lebanese dishes for family and friends. She held memberships in several clubs throughout her life, including the Syrian-Lebanese Club, American Legion Auxiliary, the Elks, and the Moose. A memorial Mass and celebration of life will be held at a later date, due to the current public health emergency.
