Gene W. Hess, Jr.

July 14, 1953 — April 10, 2024

Gene W. Hess, Jr. was born on July 14, 1953, at St. Charles Hospital to Gene W. Hess Sr. and Joanne (Kelch) Hess.

Gene was a 1971 graduate of Lake High School. After graduating from high school, he married Nancy Aldrich and started a family. They resided in Millbury where Gene was a member of the volunteer fire department. In 1987, the family relocated to Palm Beach County, Florida for Gene’s work. Gene was a professional truck driver for 42 years, retiring from Estes Express Lines in 2019. After doing some traveling, Gene and Nancy found their way back to Ohio and settled down in Rossford in 2020.


He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Lake Worth Florida and the Eagles Club in Rossford Ohio. Gene enjoyed Golfing, NASCAR, Singing Karaoke, and watching Tigers baseball and Broncos football.


Gene is survived by his wife of 51 years. Daughter Laure Santiago (Luis) of Rossford and son Robert (Ashley) Hess of Royal Palm Beach, FL. Six grandsons: Eric, Markus, Mateo, and Alexander Santiago, and Connor and Sean Hess. Sisters Diane Mangold of Lemon Grove, CA, and Yvonne Rosales of Brownsville, TX. And many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in Death by his parents and sisters June Belcik and Dawn Shrader.


A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 27th at 1:00 pm at the Genoa American Legion Hall, 302 West Street, Genoa, Ohio 43430.
