Garey A. Butz

Garey Allan Butz, age 65, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2020 at Ridgewood Manor, Maumee, OH after a year-long illness. Garey was born on March 9, 1955 in Toledo, OH to Wayne Butz Sr. and Ada Butz (Bullis). He grew up in Holland, OH and graduated from Springfield High School. He lived in the Toledo area his entire life working as a tool and die setter at Ronfeldt Industries until his retirement in 2017. Garey loved Hawaiian shirts, sporty cars, watching sports on TV, bowling, walking at Wildwood Metropark and spending time in the outdoors. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and loved listening to the “oldies” on the radio. Garey is survived by two daughters: Brandi Decant (Russ), Swanton, OH and Jennifer James (Bill), Toledo, OH. He is survived by eight siblings: Eugene Bullis (Marti), Maumee, OH; Dennis Butz (Shirley), Toledo, OH; Karen Topel (Gary), Swanton, OH; Sally Roach, Delta, OH; Shari Ehlers (Red), Ocean Springs, Mississippi; Wayne Butz Jr. (Deb), Maumee, OH; Mary Hudson (Paul), Toledo, OH; Randy Butz (Lynn), King’s Mountain, North Carolina; and sister-in-law Sue Rogers (Bellevue, OH). Garey is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, along with nieces and nephews in Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, Mississippi, Missouri and California. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Bob Butz, Marilyn Cottom, and Beatrice Lott; aunts and uncles. A private family gathering in memory of Garey is being planned at Wildwood Metropark. Cremation is being handled by Cremation Society of Toledo.
