Gale Renee Begley

Gale was born January 22, 1958 in Beaufort, South Carolina. She was called to Heaven, August 27, 2025, passing peacefully at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. She is survived by four brothers, Bruce Lively, Chris Lively, David Hottinger (Minneapolis, MN) & Everett Lively (Phoenix, AZ) and one sister, Katherine Bangle.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David P. Begley and mother, Ann Lively. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, two children; son, Benjamin Begley (Jenny) with grandsons, Devin, Jacob, Trevor and daughter, (Izzy) Mary Elizabeth Alaniz (Michael) with grandson, Noah and stepson, Joshua Callaway.

She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Suzy and 3 kitties, Mittens, Maise and Mary C.

Our family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to Nancy Deeds, Gale's best friend for over 3 decades.

Gale graduated from Perrysburg High School, Perrysburg. OH, 1976 and is a graduate of Lourdes University, Sylvania, Ohio. She spent over 15 years as the Activities Director at Memory Lane Care Services, Toledo, Ohio. She exemplified professional excellence in dealing with management, colleagues, families and patients. Her career focus on caring for patients with dementia and their families was one of the great privileges and loves of her life. Her light and compassion shone through with every interaction, smile and hug. She has left behind a beautiful and lasting legacy.

She was an avid gardener who created splendid outdoor spaces at the day center and at her home. She loved sitting outside at home surrounded by a whimsical decor of flowers and plants of all varieties, old advertising signs, antiques, comfy furniture and a place for birds, squirrels and bunnies to share, along with family and friends. She hosted every single holiday and family reunion.

We will all miss her more than words can say and are grateful for every moment spent with her. Thank you to all who loved this beautiful and irreplaceable daughter, wife, mother, grandmother sister, colleague, caregiver, and friend. She was a blessing and a gift to all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 15, 2025, noon - 4 p.m. at Oak Openings Metropark Lodge, 5230 Wilkins Road, Whitehouse, Ohio.
