Frederick J. Peltier II

November 29, 1948 — May 4, 2026

Fred Peltier passed away peacefully Monday, May 4, 2026.

He was a great storyteller, a keen observer of the world, kind to those around him, knowledgeable about everything (pop culture, art, movies, science, architecture, music, politics, history) and was funny as hell.

He was a highly respected architect Director of Design and Construction at the University of Toledo for many years. He was an active member of the Toledo Chapter of Architects Institute of America, serving as president in 1996 and Architect of the Year 2011. After retirement, he became the neighborhood handyman depended upon by many.

His wife, Mary Pat, considered herself the luckiest of women to have the coolest guy to ever exist as her husband for 39 years. To his sons, Patrick and Max, Fred was the vintage sci-fi movie and pyrotechnics expert. He also shared with them his joy for life and learning.

Fred will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Donations may be made in Fred's name to the ACLU or Black Panthers.

There will be no memorial at Fred's request.
