Floyd Henry Hite Sr., passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024, surrounded by his family and friends, who cherished his humor and wisdom. Floyd was a man who truly embraced life, always ready with a joke and a helping hand. Floyd was a jack-of-all-trades, always busy with something. From keeping the grounds and pump house at Campbell's Soup in perfect Shape for over 20 years, to building a pole barn at home, his work ethic was second to none. Despite only being able to use one arm, he tackled every challenge head-on with determination and gumption.
Floyd had a special passion for working on old cars, started his own car club and earned the nickname “Hot Rod Hite’, among friends and family. Floyd was a passionate gardener and farmer, and was known for growing tall, stunning sunflowers, delicious vegetables and planting crops in fields. He was an avid fisherman and loved fishing with his grandchildren.
Floyd loved to travel, especially to Michigan and Canada, always taking the scenic route. He enjoyed maps, history and geography. His family often remembers his love for chocolate milkshakes, apple pie, and always wearing a trucker hat. Floyd also earned the nickname "Dodge" because he was never seen without his Dodge Hemi Truck. He believed that everyone who walked through his front door was family. Though he might not have admitted it, he had a special place in his heart for kids and was always ready with a joke. His favorite hangout was the Waffle House, or as he humorously referred to it as, his "office."
