Ermalea Jones

Ermalea F Jones, aged 97, passed away peacefully at home on 12-31-22. She was born on 7-25-25 in Kansas and had been valedictorian of her high school class. After graduating from Emporia State Teachers College, she taught school in a one room schoolhouse, later moving to Toledo where she met her future husband, William A Jones Jr. They married on 6-19-48 and had five daughters. She found great pleasure in raising and caring for her family and later working as a bookkeeper. Fun-filled vacations were spent in Kansas, Port Clinton and on Neebish Island. She enjoyed gardening and was very active in her church as well as women’s organizations. She truly cherished her lifelong friendships.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill (2004), her parents, sister, niece and nephew from Kansas, as well as two grandsons, Christopher and Rusty. Surviving are her daughters, Victoria Woitzel, Kathleen Runkle (Joe Pfeiffer), Jennifer Cooper, Lisa (Daryl) Aschliman and Nancy Harb (Kim Downs) as well as her grandchildren, Rachel (Barry), Rebekah, Cartlyn, Michael, Michelle (David), Nadia (Hilal), Rami (Ellen), Samia, Julia, Jenifer (Jerry), and great grandchildren, Parker, Hayden, Connor, Sammy, Harlow, Tatum, Jolie, Shaelynn, Noah, Jude, Jessica and Jordan. She also has surviving family in Kansas and Michigan.

She was full of life and loved living it to the fullest. She will be greatly missed.

Services will be Sunday, 1-22-23, at St. Paul’s UMC, 1201 Madison Ave., Toledo, Ohio, 43604. Visitation will be at 11 AM with memorial service at 12 noon. Lunch will then follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the St. Paul’s UMC Memorial Fund.
