Ercil F. Beck

September 7, 1925 — February 24, 2021

Ercil (Audell) Fehrman Beck passed away on Wednesday, February 24, at Ohio Living Swan Creek in Toledo. She moved to Swan Creek from Westlake in 2016 to be near her son and daughter-in-law. Born September 7, 1925 to Mada Ercil Bellamy Fehrman and Harry C. Fehrman, Ercil grew up in Mt. Healthy (Cincinnati) Ohio. On Halloween in 1946 she moved to Cleveland to work for the state office of Disciples of Christ Churches in The Arcade. In 1948 she married Russell C. Beck whom she met at the Cleveland Yachting Club, where they were long-time members. Ercil liked to work and spent 21 years at the Bay Village branch of Cuyahoga County Public Library, retiring in 1997. Life at the Beck’s was interesting as Russ was a freelance-engineer/artist and liked diverse projects: boat building, antique & electric cars, and alternative power. He ran a plastic molding business at home and nickel-plated car parts in the kitchen. The many neighbor kids of the 50s & 60s were always curious about what Russ was up to. Ercil enjoyed her sons’ school and college bands. She was a long-time member of Bay Presbyterian Church choir. Interests included reading, Colonial Williamsburg, and astronomy. Ercil is survived by sons Robert (Bay Village) and David (Maumee). Contributions can be made in Ercil’s memory to Ohio Living Swan Creek (www.ohioliving.org), or Colonial Williamsburg (www.colonialwilliamsburg.org). A memorial service will be held at a later date.
