Elizabeth L. Links

April 14, 1981 — August 27, 2021

Elizabeth Leatrice Links, 40, passed away peacefully at Hospice of NWO in Perrysburg on Friday, August 27 after a long battle with cancer. Liz burst onto the scene in Toledo on April 14, 1981. From the beginning, she was smart, sassy, determined and talented. While in high school, she won numerous awards for her art. After graduating from Start High School in 1999, she moved to North Carolina. Eventually, Liz opted to move back home where she earned a B.A. in Law and Social Thought (2011) and a Master of Public Administration (2012) with honors from the University of Toledo. Liz worked many years helping with the prison re-entry program, the Homelessness Board, Family House, Toledo Museum of Art and finally, the TASC Board of Directors. Liz was strong, intelligent, creative, patient, kind, empathetic, artistic, organized and a little bossy. She had a strong sense of community and loved helping others succeed. She loved things and people that others might consider weird. She encouraged people to be themselves. Liz loved an intelligent argument and did not love when people couldn’t keep up. She had an excellent sense of humor and loved a good social gathering but also loved her alone time. Liz loved art. She loved planners, high quality paper, fountain pens and cool office supplies. She despised notifications. She loved makeup, scary movies, good books, and Posey Lake. Most importantly, she deeply loved her family, her friends and her cats. Liz is survived by her husband, Gary Smith; mother, Mary Links; brother, Matt Links; nephew, Kyle Grandowicz; and many more loving family and friends. A Celebration of Life is being planned. Details will follow. Memorials can be given to https://www.familyhousetoledo.org/, https://www.plannedpethood.org/ https://ripmedicaldebt.org/ or the charity of your choice.
