Edwin Victor Marok, 77, passed away peacefully in his home on March 19, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Ed was born on March 9, 1945 in Toledo, Ohio to Edwin and Florence (Gross) Marok. He is survived by his loving wife of 32-years, Pamela Marok, sons Edwin John Marok, James Marok (Jennifer), step-children Derrick (Dawn) Martz, Susan Martz and Barbara Lanzi. He is also survived by his grandchildren Danielle (Ryan), Paul, Jordan, Melinda, Kayla (Justin), Brett (Brooke), Olivia, Claire, Tyler and his five great-grandchildren. Ed was preceded in death by his parents and his son Paul Marok. Ed attended Central Catholic High School and The University of Toledo. He fulfilled his childhood dream of being a police officer when he was only 21 years old when he became a graduate of the 28th class of the Toledo Police Department in 1967. During his years of service, he worked as a detective in the Scientific Investigation Unit and the Bomb Squad. He loved being an officer and was deeply impacted by many cases he investigated during his career. He was recognized locally and nationally as a hero when, while off duty, he rescued an unconscious woman from a burning car that exploded seconds after he forced the door open and carried her to safety. After retiring in 1990, he enjoyed his days fishing with his grandkids and being on the waters of Lake Erie. He got the most joy out of cheering on his many grandkids at their sporting events. In recent years he enjoyed traveling the States with his wife and just being surrounded by family. He felt so fortunate to have been able to part of his great grandchildren’s lives. Ed will be greatly missed by all who came to love him over the years. Special thank you to Hospice of Promedica for allowing Ed to live out his final days at home. We will be celebrating Ed’s life on Saturday May 14 at 11:00 am for a burial service at Toledo Memorial Park cemetery in Sylvania, Ohio, followed by a luncheon. In lieu of sending flowers, please consider donating to Ed’s favorite organization, The Down Syndrome Association of Greater Toledo, in honor of his great granddaughter.
