Edward L. Manthey, age 65, of Leroy, MI passed away peacefully on February 3rd, 2024, at his sister's home surrounded by family, after a very courageous battle with cancer. Ed was born in Wyandotte, Michigan. He graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in 1976, and worked for Wyandotte Municipal Services starting out as a meter reader in 1978, retiring as an electrician for the Wyandotte Power Plant in 2009.
Ed was an avid sportsman and enjoyed many hobbies. His favorites were bicycle racing, fishing, hunting, ice fishing, racquet ball, skiing, wrestling and woodworking. He loved nature, and enjoyed sharing it with his dog, Gabby, in their wooded surroundings. When he wasn't outdoors you could catch him watching Rovers Morning Glory, Cops, Golf, Football, and Outdoor Adventures.
Ed will be remembered for his quick humor analogies, for his delectable cooking and for his love for the outdoors.
Ed is survived by his loving daughter, Cassandra Choryan (Eric); mother, Joyce Manthey; sisters, Denise Gardner and Gayle McKeethan; brothers, Ronald and Randy (Shella); grandson, Jaden Choryan and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Manthey, and brothers-in-law, Gregg Gardner and William McKeethan.
To conform with Ed's wishes funeral or memorial services will not be held.
