Edward Gay, known as "Ed" or "Eddie" to most, and "Shoober O'Reilly" to a select few, passed away suddenly, at the age of 70, at St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo on March 23, 2021. He was born to Clifford H. and Joan Carolyn (Sheets) Gay on January 10, 1951 at Riverside Hospital. He lived in Toledo his entire life. Edward attended Woodward High School. He entered the work force early, taking a position in the patient transportation department at the Toledo Hospital, later moving into the Physical Therapy Department as an aide, where he served patients for a total of 44 1/2 years. While working at Toledo Hospital, he met the love of his life, Molly (Fleming) Gay. They married a few years later in 1974, having two sons. Edward attended Calvary Bible Chapel where he was a member for a number of years. He was a big fan of Toledo Hockey, especially the Toledo Goaldiggers franchise from 1974 to 1986. He was in the Toledo Sports Arena the night they won the 1977-78 Turner Cup Championship, a very proud and happy moment for him. He was also a big Dallas Cowboy fan, as well as a Detroit Tiger fan. Surviving Edward are his sons, Jonathan and Joshua; his sister, Suzanne (Meyerhofer) Naugle, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Edward in death are his parents, Clifford H. and Joan Carolyn (Sheets) Gay; his wife, Molly Kay (Fleming) Gay; his sister, Pamela Dee (Fraks) Van Camp; and brother-in-law, Gilbert Warren Naugle.
