Edward Wayne Church

March 12, 1946 — July 3, 2018

Edward Wayne Church, 72, died July 3, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a short battle with brain cancer. He graduated from Whitmer High School, class of 1964. He was a master carpenter by trade and worked as a project superintendent for Lathrop for many years. In his later years he was an avid golfer and enjoyed doing side projects for his friends. He took great pride in being a direct descendant of Chief Little Turtle of the Miami Indian Tribe. He was a great man with friends too numerous to count. You only had to meet him once to become his lifelong friend. He never turned down the chance to help; even complete strangers. His loss will be felt by all who knew him and there will be one open seat for breakfast at table 16. Edward is survived by his loving wife, Cindy; sons, Edward Lucas (Kana) and Matthew; grandson, Edward Kendrick; sister, Sandy Frantom (Bob); brother, Gary (Judy), and numerous nieces and nephews. He was immensely proud of his children and of becoming a grandfather. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Lange; mother, Ellen Jane; and brother, Thomas. A celebration of his life will be held on September 29, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at The Fallen Timbers Visitor Center, 4949 North Jerome Road, Maumee, OH 43537. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to donate in his memory to the Fallen Timbers Battlefield Preservation Commission to put towards a memorial in his honor. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.toledocremation.com.
