Douglas R. Mason

Douglas Raymond Mason, 76 years old, passed away unexpectedly on March 2, 2023. Born in Toledo, Ohio on April 2, 1946 to Cecelia (Hens) and Sylvester Roy Mason.

Doug was a 1965 graduate of Whitmer High School in Toledo. After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force, where he served in Vietnam.

Doug was employed at Libbey-Owens-Ford in Rossford, Ohio for thirty years, retiring in 1995. He then went on doing maintenance work for various companies. He then went to work for his son's company, Errands 1st, making deliveries, before retiring for good.

Doug enjoyed camping with his wife, Deb and his brothers and their wives at Waldon Woods Campground in Indiana where they all owned property.

Doug was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan, as well as a Dallas Cowboy fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and when their children were younger, Doug and his wife were known as "the cool parents ".

Doug and his wife were grade school sweethearts. They met and started dating when he was 15 and Deb was 12. They were inseparable. The love they shared was one of a kind. This coming June 11 would have marked their 57th wedding anniversary.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Deb; daughter, Kristie; and son, Jeff; his fur baby, Lhasa Apso, Ozzie, whom he loved very much; many neices and nephews, as well as his friends who were all like family, Alicia Schermbeck, Lori, Tyler and Makenzie Vaculik; and his special neighbors, Jim and Anne, Ken and Patty, and John and Nancy. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Cecelia; and brothers Tom, Bob and Ralph.

At this time there will be no funeral services as per Doug's wishes. Any donations can be made to The American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donors choice.

God was in need of another angel and he chose you. You touched so many people's lives in your lifetime. You were one of a kind. You will be so deeply missed by many including your wife and children. Until we meet again.
