Dorris E Hickman

Dorris Elenor Frazee Hickman, passed away on Tuesday, March 12th, 2013 in her home, after a long battle with cancer, with her daughter by her side. Dorris was born on March 23, 1936 to Lucille and Charles Frazee in Columbus, Ohio. She attended the 11th Ave Grammer School and graduated from Linden Mckinley High School in 1954. Dorris moved to Toledo in 1962 with her then husband, Tom Hickman, who took a teaching position at Start High School. Dorris worked for the Ohio State bar association, was a receptionist for Dentist James Mayer of Toledo and then after many years retired from Blue Cross/Blue Shield. She also worked at Lordes College and was a caregiver for the Sattler family of Toledo.Dorris was a devoted Ohio State football fan and was also an avid reader. Her favorite authors were John Grisham and Sue Grafton. She loved spending time with her daughter and her family. Her grandchildren were the light of her life! Dorris was fun loving and enjoyed being surrounded by those she loved. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her and especially her loving family.She is survived by her daughter, Holly (Patrick) Walters; grandchildren, Gabrielle and Griffin Walters; and her friend and ex-husband, Thomas E. Hickman. The family would like to thank Senior Independence Hospice who helped care for Dorris. A celebration of Dorris life will be held on Saturday, March 23 from 4-8 PM at Toledo Botanical Gardens in the Terrace Room, 5403 Elmer Dr, Toledo, OH.
