Dorothy Mcfarland

Dorothy (Bowman) McFarland, 87, of Toledo, Ohio left this life on January 6, 2021 after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born December 6, 1933 in Ida, Michigan to Lloyd and Gertrude Bowman and was one of five children. As a young woman, she owned and worked at the Dairy Barn in Ida, MI and worked at A&W Root Beer in Toledo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley; siblings, Dale and Owen Bowman, Lola Walters, Marianne Zech; and faithful companions Lady I and Lady II. Dorothy was a beloved mother, homemaker, and avid University of Michigan fan. She was a past member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Eastern Star and the Red Hat Society. Her hobbies included gardening, camping, and birdwatching. With a sassy wit and warm and giving heart, she will be greatly missed by her loving children, Kevin (Judy) McFarland, Frank (Cindy) McFarland; beloved grandson, Frank McFarland, Jr.; brother-in-law, James (Henrietta) Zech; dear friend, Ruth Skeans and many family and friends. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, visitation and funeral services will be private. Those wishing to make contributions in Dorothy’s memory may do so to Ebeid Hospice, the Franciscan Care Center or Humane Ohio.
