Dorothy G. Belcher

Dorothy “Dot” Belcher beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully, Sunday, August 17, 2025.

Dorothy Gwendolyn Belcher (Carr) was born on October 1,1927 to Lloyd and Annie Carr in Toledo, Ohio. She had three brothers, Lloyd Carr, William “Bill” Carr, Robert “Bobby” (Goodwyn) Carr. She also had two sisters, Joy (Marvin) Reams and Betty (Wilbur) Stevens.


Dorothy attended Toledo Whitney Vocational School and graduated with the class of 1944 with an emphasis in Nursing. She worked tirelessly and diligently in the care of others her whole life. She was employed by Mercy Hospital from 1970-71. Then she was employed at Brookhaven Nursing Home from 1971-1990 until she retired.


On March 4, 1945, Dot married John Boston Belcher, Jr. From this union, they had 7 children, Thomas (Shirley) Belcher, Michael Benjamin Belcher, Sr, Sheila Moore Belcher, Stephanie Belcher, Jonathon (Roxann) Belcher, Victor Belcher and Chad (Laura) Belcher.


Dot lived a life full of faith and devotion to her family and friends. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles and Westerns.


Dorothy is survived only by her brother, Robert “Bobby” Carr and sons, Jonathon (Roxann) Belcher and Chad (Laura) Belcher.

Dorothy was preceded in death by 5 of her 7 children, Thomas Belcher, Michael Belcher, Sheila Moore (Belcher), Stephanie Belcher (infant), and Victor Belcher.


Dot was cherished by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. All of which still hold a special place in their hearts for Dorothy.
