Dorlene "Dorie" Kathryne "Hartung" Johnson, 75, born Sept 26, 1950 in Yakima, Washington State, passed May 12, 2026, at home on hospice in Toledo, Ohio. She began her life in Omaha, Nebraska then later moving to Seattle, Washington.
She was preceded in death by her first son, Jacob Hartung (born in Oregon in 1972, passing from SIDS) and both parents, Leslie Allen Hartung Sr. and Dona Jean "Tierney" Gaskill. She is survived by her two children, Jodi "Updike" Jordan and Daniel (Heather) Woodward; grandchildren, Hallie Arrington, Heaven and Sam Parra, Sadie and Amy Arrington, Whitten, Mae Woodward, Augustus Woodward, Clay Marmon, Selena Marmon; and great-granddaughter, Blythe Mackenzie Arrington; as well as many step and adopted kids. She is survived by all her siblings, Deborah Kilgore, Carla Evans, Leslie Allen Hartung Jr., William Hartung, and Jessie Gaskitt.
She attended the Archdiocese of Seattle Schools, St. Edwards of Seattle, and Saint Monica Mercer Island. She graduated in 1968 from Rainier Beach High School, where she was on senior cabinet, senior committee, art club, drama club, biology club, girls club, handbook committee, Shield State newspaper, and lettered in volleyball.
She had many professions, which included bartending, bookkeeping, owning her own business, and embroidery manufacturing. She also cleaned homes and cared for her elderly clients and friends till the end. She married Keith Updike in Reno, NV in 1978, and then Douglas Madel Johnson in Port Orchard, WA in 1987 from whom she was widowed.
She lived many lifetimes and had a full life. She loved rocks, horses, the ocean, all her many cat and doggie children. She loved sports and was a fan of the Seahawks, Mariners, Gonzaga, and enjoyed watching billiards, tennis, and golf. And really loved "Martha" and game shows. She was Catholic and her faith was strong till the end. She struggled with many illnesses and her body on earth could not endure any more. She's no longer suffering, pain no more, may she rest in peace and is always loved.
