The family of Doris Marie Cluckey is deeply saddened to announce her passing on Sunday August 30th, 2026 at the age of 79. She was born on January 7th, 1947 in Ionia, Michigan then raised by her father Ralph K. and mother Lillian B. Chesebro in Kalamazoo, Michigan. After moving to Toledo, Ohio; she graduated from Whitmer High school. Then, while working as a car hop at Frisch's Big Boy restaurant she met, then married Dennis (Denny) Fred Cluckey on April 8th,1967, and had three daughters; Dawn, Jennifer and Julie. After being married for 35 years, sadly, Dennis passed away on September 30, 2001.

In August of 1982, Doris began working for Washington Local Schools serving lunches at Wernert Elementary School. Always greeting the kids and the staff with a warm smile, kind words of encouragement and some sort of a joke, she affectionately became known as "THE Lunch Lady!" After 34 proud years of working for WLC, she retired in May of 2016.

In her spare time Doris liked to go for walks in the park, go for car rides, do word searches, sew patchwork quilts and spend time with her granddaughters, Heather and Katelyn, whom she loved very much. Enjoying the more quiet time of life, she became very interested in watching birds and wild life out of her bedroom window and laughing and telling stories of her cat she lovingly called "Silly Lily."

She will be sorely missed, in our hearts forever and remembered with love by her Daughters; Sons-in-law, Gary, Jeff and Jimmy; Granddaughters, Heather and Katelyn; Great grandsons, Kaden and Elijah; Sister-in-law, Brenda, and the many Nieces and Nephews along with friends and other people she shined her smiling light on. 

A celebration of Doris's life will be held privately at a later time.

The family would also like to sincerely thank the nursing staff and the doctors at St. Charles Hospital for the compassion and care they gave to Doris and our family during the final days and moments of her life.
