Doreen C. Evick

Doreen Carol Evick (Germain) passed peacefully in her sleep on February 1, 2021 at the age of 72. Doreen was born on August 29, 1948 at Toledo Hospital to Doris and Carl Germain. She was a 1967 graduate of DeVilbiss High School where she participated in the A Cappella Choir. After retiring from Mercy Health Partners, Doreen took great joy in working as a nanny for the Ponnathota family. She was a 10-year breast cancer survivor. Doreen participated annually in the Susan G. Komen Northwest Ohio Race for the Cure. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, craft shows, many family gatherings, and she gave of herself whenever needed by friends and family. Doreen would like to remind everyone “Dress every day like you’re cute, because life is too short to blend in”. Doreen was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Chris. She is survived by her daughter, Darcy (Brian) Layne; her son, David (Nickie) Stoner; brothers, Carl, Bruce, Keith and sister, Diane; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and friend, Bill Sine. Doreen has several loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date. Donations can be made to the Susan G. Komen Northwest Ohio Chapter in honor of Doreen.
