Donna J. Portz

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Donna Portz (Manley), age 58, on May 1, 2025. Donna was born July 11, 1966 in Montgomery, WV, to Alma Jean and Sanford Manley. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Diane Valentine and brother-in-law Doug Valentine of Cannelton, WV; and Sister Brenda Valentine of Kanawha Falls, WV.

She is survived by her husband Robert Portz Jr. of Maumee, OH and her children; Courtney Portz and husband Angel Orozco of Maumee, OH; Kelsi Portz of Loveland, CO; Nicholas Portz and fiancée Rayah Decker of Loveland, CO. Her siblings; Sanford Manley Jr. and his wife Lisa of Oak Hill, WV; Sharon Braenovich and her husband Steve of Robson, WV; Teresa Wyant and her husband Jimmy of Elkview, WV; and Carol Phifer of Alabama;

Donna was a graduate of Montgomery High School class of ’84. She worked 7 years serving on the board as an executive secretary for an industrial refrigeration company in Huntington, WV. She then raised three happy and successful children, she has always been proud of them. Donna was always the most positive, cheerful and outgoing person in the room. She excelled at making everyone feel cared for and welcomed.

Donna loved being a substitute teacher, making jokes, telling stories, and embracing her career as a full time mother. One of the things she enjoyed most was managing the baseball concessions and attending her children’s sporting and school events. Donna loved supporting the kids and helping people in need any way she could. She also loved Friday movie nights with her husband, traveling to Myrtle Beach, SC, and spending summer vacations with her family. Donna led a full and exciting life; she will be deeply missed. She will be laid to rest at the Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens in Glasgow, WV. Services will be determined in the near future.
