Donald J. Price

Donald James Price passed into eternal heaven on February 12, 2024, after a brief fight with cancer. Don was born on May 28, 1938 in Chicago, Ill to Stanley and Alice Price. He grew up in Cicero, Ill and attended Holy Mount, St. Mel’s High School and Saint Mary's University Winona. Don proudly served his country as a military policeman in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1966 after fulfilling both active duty and reserve commitments.

Don’s working career began with Victor Gaskets (acquired by Dana), where he spent 40+ years and then joined Eaton via the Weatherhead acquisition for his remaining working years. Job transfers found the family moving several times in the Midwest including Iowa, Indiana and Ohio. His final move was to Toledo in 1979 where he remained until his passing.

Good fortune started early in Don’s life. The family next to his childhood home was blessed with five daughters. One of them, Mary Anne, caught his eye and the rest is history as they say. Mary Anne and Don were married on November 24, 1962 and shared 35 years of marriage together. Mary Anne passed away too soon in November of 1997. They loved to travel and socialize. God blessed them with three great children which they adored.

Being raised in Cicero left an undeniable mark on Don’s entire life. He was extremely proud of his Chicago roots. He greatly enjoyed spending time at his cabin in Eagle River, Wisconsin along with boating, fishing and cooking. In recent years he was fond of spending time with the Dana retirees club and volunteering with his home parish, St. Joan of Arc. His family will greatly miss his unwavering support, commitment to tradition and his excellent cooking skills.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, David (Mari), Cheryl (Matthew) Carson and Michael along with grandchildren, Jake, Colin, Alexis and Hailey. He is also survived by his siblings, Marcie (Bill- deceased), Dorothy (Lou) and James (Sherry) as well as many nieces, nephews and dear in-laws. Don will be inurned with Mary Anne at St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery, 6800 N. Milwaukee Ave, Niles, Illinois 60714 on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will follow.
