Donald R. Mcdougle

Donald ("Don", "Donnie") Roland McDougle, 61, of Napoleon, OH, passed from this life and went to be with Jesus on April 30, 2023, ending a 15 day stay at St. Vincent's Hospital in Toledo. Don had been living with heart failure for many years.

Don was born July 30, 1961 in Bowling Green, Ohio to Roland Leonard McDougle and Leona Anna (Prigge) McDougle. Don was raised and attended school in Hamler. Don met and, in 1982, married his wife, Paula, at a church they both once attended with family in Defiance. He worked for 17 years as a machinist for Compo Corporation in Defiance and also delivered pizza for more than 20 years in Napoleon. While others steadily came and went from food delivery, Don dug in and did what he needed to do with a valid opportunity to provide for his family.

For as long as his health allowed, Don loved to go camping. Every summer, he and Paula would vacation at Indian Lake State Park, often renting a cabin there. Don loved to discover and explore the walking trails there and elsewhere with Paula. Don had a great sense of humor and never lost that even as his body lost some functionality. Don did what he could for other people. He very often gave rides to his grandchildren and others when they needed them. For a long while, Don loved to find a bargain at a garage sale or a thrift store or an auction and he always kept an eye out for things that would be useful or just pleasing to family and friends. Don also loved to take a lot of photographs of the things and the people around him that he cared about. Don loved to worship and serve God at Turning Point Church in Archbold.

Don is predeceased by his parents, Roland and Leona.

Don is survived by his wife of 41 years, Paula McDougle; his children, Stephen McDougle of Napoleon, Donald (Heather) McDougle of Holgate, and Christina McDougle (Tony Perez) of Napoleon; his sisters, Jacki Hagen of Hicksville, Barb Donley of McClure, Patty Sparks of Holgate, and Cathy Robertson of Springhill, Tennessee; his brother, Dan McDougle of Hamler; his grandchildren, Draven McDougle, Caleb McDougle, Mason McDougle, Jordyn McDougle, Silas McDougle, Natalie Perez, Natasha Perez, and Tony Perez; and his great granddaughter, Hinata.

A Celebration of Life potluck will be held at Turning Point Church in Archbold on Saturday, May 20th at 2:00 pm.
