Donald (Don) A. Flory, 87, from Holland, Oh, passed peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, January 16, 2025. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Alva and Mildred Flory,; his sisters, Bonnie (Cliff) Grohowski and Betty (Ken) Tibbits; and his brother, Dan (Cindy) Flory, who passed just one week prior to Don; his granddaughter, Michelle (Kniss) Lewis; great granddaughter, Sophia Gabriella Marconi. Don is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Donna (VanNess) Flory; children Jeffery (Rebecca) Flory, Denise (William) Kniss, Dennis (Wanda) Flory and Dean (William Smith) Flory; 23 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
Don was known for his excellent carpentry skills and was very sought after for them. He began as a House Building Contractor, then as a Commercial Carpenter for Henry J. Spieker Co., Lathrop and AA Boos, until he returned to use his expertise as a Finish Carpenter. After retiring, he especially enjoyed building projects for use around their home. He also enjoyed camping, Nascar racing and being with his family. As a young child, he could often be found at his father’s hardware store, Flory’s Hardware, which was, and partially still is, at the current site of The Cremation Society, which is where he currently rests.
A private burial will take place at a future date at the Springfield Township Cemetery, 7562 Bauman Street, Holland, Ohio. The family thanks NW Ohio Hospice for their compassionate care. Any donations may be made to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org or to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, www.donate.nationalmssociety.com.
