Denis Charles Green

Denis Charles Green, 79, died Friday, April 19, 2013 at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on August 2, 1933 to Merritt W. and Martha E.(Dern) Green. He was a 1951 graduate of DeVilbiss High School and graduated from Wittenberg College in 1955.Denis is survived by his son, Steve Green (Mary) of Bowling Green, Ohio; step-daughter, Dawn Rood of Leavenworth, Kansas; six grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; brother, Merritt W. Green, II; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and significant other, Faith Breneman.Denis worked as a Firefighter for the City of Toledo from 1964 until his retirement in 1987. He was a talented artist who painted, sketched and blew glass. He enjoyed travelling and in later years earned his private pilots license.Denis was a friend of Bill W for 40 years.A celebration of life will be held on May 2, 2013 from 2pm-7pm at the First Unitarian Church of Toledo, 3205 Glendale Avenue.
