Debra A. Kienzle (“Deb”) age 63, of Toledo passed away at St. Vincent’s Hospital with her family at her side, on May 9th, 2022. Deb was born on October 15th, 1958 in Benton Harbor, Michigan and grew up in Coloma, Michigan. She attended Western Michigan University and spent most of her life in Southwestern Michigan. On December 6th, 1986, she married her husband Todd of Watervliet, Michigan, whom she had met in 1984. Deb would spend thirty-six loving years of marriage with him. Ever adaptable, Deb worked a variety of jobs, including stints as a bartender, veterinary assistant, legal clerk and USDA administrator. Her best years of work, however, were spent working with children, as mother, a preschool teacher and as a building secretary for Central Elementary School in Hastings, Michigan. Deb was also voraciously actively in her community, participating in parent-teacher associations, band boosters, and in her final years, the Old West End Association of Toledo. Deb’s proudest accomplishment, however, was her children: for thirty two years, Deb championed and doted upon her two daughters and one son. Deb is survived by her husband Todd Kienzle; children Page, Stefan, and Tess; brother Stuart Phebus (Angela); her nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her father Charles Phebus, mother Boots Phebus, and son Patrick Kienzle. Deb was vibrant, gregarious and generous. Her energy and spirit was contagious and larger than life. She charmed all of those she met and was a fast but lasting friend to many. Deb loved to entertain at her family home. In honor of that, her family will be holding a celebration of her life at their home at 2238 Scottwood Avenue Toledo, OH 43620. All are welcome to stop by, have a drink, and share their memories of Deb.
