Deborah N. Woda

November 6, 1950 — March 12, 2022

Deborah Nan Woda, 71, entered into eternal life on March 12, 2022 in her home. Deborah was born November 6, 1950 to Eugene and Patricia Zientek . Deborah attended WoodWard High School and later obtained her GED in 1999. Our mom Deborah was an Amazing mother raising six children from the age of 17 with her former husband and life time friend Thomas H. Schlegel. Her beautiful spirit shined through her infectious smile. Deborah was a stay at home mom and established close and eternal bonds with all of her children. She was always their biggest fan and defender, always making them feel the most loved. Deborah worked more than thirty years in subsidized housing (Vistula and Wingate) helping low income families and people with disabilities, always showing kindness and empathy. Our Mom most enjoyed being with her family, talking, laughing, drinking beers, and listening to music. Mom also enjoyed fishing, cooking, gambling and sports. Her favorite teams were the Detroit Lions, Red Wings, and Tigers. Deborah opened her home and heart to all and we will miss her more than words can speak. She was preceded in death by her parents Eugene and Patricia Zientek, husband Steven E. Woda, and brother in Law Michael Woda. Deborah is survived by her six children, Thomas (Jodi) Schlegel, David Schlegel, Jason (Amber) Schlegel, Laurie (Steve) Schlegel, Mary (Allan) Schlegel, and Patti Schlegel; daughter in-law Kathy Schlegel; many grandchildren and great grandchildren (whom she loved all so very much); Brusband Lew Zientek who we are forever grateful for; brother Fred Zientek; sisters Marcy (Charlie) Bunker and Ruth (Ken) Barth, and special friends Tim Washington and John Anderson. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Church, Point Place Saturday April 2 at 1pm; A Celebration of Life will follow at Friendship Park Community Center 2930 131st St. Toledo, Ohio 43611.
