Deborah Sturtz

Deborah “Debbie” J. (Smalley) Sturtz, was called to her heavenly home on February 2, 2025. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo.

Debbie was born on March 7, 1949, to James and Alice Smalley in Toledo. She was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy, class of 1967. Deborah worked as an LPN in the Toledo area for hospitals and doctors’ offices.

Debbie loved spending time with her family. She was an Elvis fan and enjoyed traveling as well as attending concerts and local church and ethnic festivals.

Debbie is survived by her husband, James “Jim” Sturtz and his loving family; sister, Judy (Dennis) Gray; brother, Mark Smalley; son, Matthew (Deanna) Ortiz; daughter, Jennifer (Andres) Valbuena; grandchildren, Madeline (Christian) Marchand, Alex Ortiz, Aidan Ortiz, Maya Ortiz and Olivia Valbuena. Deborah was preceded in death by her parents, James and Alice Smalley.

The family requests that any memorials or donations be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio of Toledo, the Bavarian Sports Club of Toledo, or the church or charity of their choice.
