Dean
Treadway
July 31, 1938 – April 19, 2026
New Life Alliance Church
11:30 am - 2:00 pm (Eastern time)
Dean Treadway, 87, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on April 19, 2026, at Wood County Hospital. Dean was born on July 31, 1938, in Summerfield, Ohio, to Carl E. and Ella Pearl (Oliver) Treadway. He married Evelyn Frances Bloomfield on September 1, 1962, and she preceded him in death on February 1, 2006.
Dean was a lifelong resident of Whitehouse, Ohio. He spent many years as a girls' softball coach and later enjoyed watching ball games at Whitehouse Park. He worked as a forklift operator for American Metalcraft in Waterville for 37 years, where he was known as 'Dino'. He enjoyed driving the company truck in the Labor Day parade for UAW Local 12 for many years. Dino was an avid bowler at Fallen Timbers Bowling Alley.
He enjoyed watching TV, doing word searches and puzzles. His favorite show was WWE or any wrestling, really, always watching at least 3-4 times a week. He was surprised by family with tickets to a WWE show in Toledo with his son-in-law and grandsons. With a perfect view of the ring, they were on TV the entire broadcast. He was also a NASCAR fan, especially of Dale Sr and Dale Jr. His grandsons and friends took Grandpa to MIS several times and Bristol. At MIS, he got to see Dale Jr. in pit row - he was thrilled!
Dean is survived by his daughters, Cheryl and Tim Mendenhall, Swanton, Ohio, and Janelle Treadway and Allen Oldham, Munfordville, KY; grandchildren, Matthew and Alison Mendenhall; Nicholas and Victoria Mendenhall; Christian Oldham and Michael Treadway; great-grandchildren, Parker, Tucker and Shelby Mendenhall; siblings, Delores Oram, Judy Stalmark, Tom (Kelly) Treadway, and Harold Treadway. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins and their spouses.
In addition to his parents and wife, Dean was preceded in death by his son, Richard and daughter-in-law, Brenda Treadway; and sisters, Phyllis Cole, Bonnie Kindle, and Mary Schmitt.
A private graveside memorial service for family will be held at Whitehouse Cemetery, Whitehouse, Ohio.
A Celebration of Life with family and friends will be held Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 11:30am to 2:00pm at New Life Alliance Church, 7215 Noward Road, Waterville, Ohio.
The family extend heartfelt gratitude to Wood County Hospital, especially Courtnie, Lynn, Brianna, Joe, Ben and Becky for the loving and compassionate care of Dean. They also thank Bridge Hospice of Findlay for their care and support, and New Life Alliance Church for their compassion and kindness.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to any of the above caring organizations in gratitude for the care and support they provided.
