David Lloyd Thompson

David Lloyd Thompson, age 67, passed away February 5, 2009 at St. Vincents Hospital. He was born in Toledo, Ohio where he joined the Army in 1959 and received an honorable discharge in 1965 for his service to his country. He was a veteran who later became disabled. Mr. Thompson was a 1955 graduate of St. Benedict Elementary School and a 1959 graduate of Central Catholic High School. He received a four year varsity football scholarship to several colleges but elected to join the army. He was inducted into Central Catholics High School Hall of Fame for the boys basketball team. He loved to play football and basketball, cook, travel with his family, watch movies, play with his grandchildren, and was a member and Sunday school teacher at Bethlehem Baptist Church. David was preceded in death by his parents, Lady Mae Green and David Thompson Sr. and his step-father Willie Green. He leaves to cherish his memory, his sister, Diane Lamb; wife Sandra Thompson (to whom he was married for 28 years); children, David, Maronda, Michael, and Marshall all of Toledo, Cynthia and Patrizia Thompson of California; grandchildren, Ronnelle and Donelle Thompson of Toledo, Nichole and Michelle of California; nephew, Stephen Lamb; niece, Monica Lamb of Columbus, Ohio; great niece, Elena Segura Lamb; special cousins, Dannie Mae (Farrell) Reid; and special friend, Renee Bergman of Asuza, California; along with a host of other relatives and friends. The family would like to extend a special thanks to St. Vincents Mercy Medical Center, the Veterans Administration, all the tenants of Pinewood Place, and special recognition to his daughter Cynthia. A memorial service will be held at 3pm, Saturday, February 14, 2009 at VFW Post 2510, 617 2nd St. Toledo, Ohio 43605 (Just passed the Sports Arena). The Reverend Arnold will lead the prayer. Services are being entrusted to the Cremation Society of Toledo. Online condolences may be made below.
