David Charles Pohlman, age 67, of Holland, Ohio passed away May 21, 2016. He was born to Herbert E. Pohlman and Anna Mae (Hockanadel) Pohlman Gorr on July 5, 1948. David served with the U.S. Navy as a medic during the Vietnam War (1968-1972). He loved to cook and he worked for 35 years as a cook at the University of Toledo food service department before retiring 5 years ago. He was known for his Uncle Ds spice mix at home and at work. David is survived by his sister, Mary Jo Pohlman of Holland, OH, beloved nephew, Douglas (Kristen Hodges) Pohlman, and the light of his life, great-nephew Mirek. Also surviving are his brother, James (Susan) Pohlman of Toledo, OH, niece, Elizabeth Pohlman, great-nieces, Layla and Izabella, and great-nephew, Timothy. He also leaves behind beloved special friends, Chuck Adler of Austin, TX and Michelle Miller of Toledo, OH, as well as many other friends and family members. Special thanks to his beautiful cousin, Bonnie Joly for all of the wonderful haircuts and family get togethers at the holidays. David was preceded in death by his parents. Services will be private. Donations in Davids memory may be sent to the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association, or the American Veterans Foundation.
