David G. Pickett of Sylvania, Ohio, passed away at Promedica Ebeid Hospice Residence, surrounded by his loving family, on July 13, 2022. He was born on September 17, 1941, to Joseph and Annabelle (Radaker) Pickett in Toledo, Ohio. Dave was a 1959 graduate of Macomber High School. He was a Toledo Firefighter for 32 years before retiring in 1997. Dave was very proud of his firefighting career and always said, "Being a firefighter was the best job ever." He avidly supported the Toledo Firefighters Museum, donating his time to ensuring the building’s upkeep. Dave thoroughly enjoyed the fellowship of other firefighters and museum visitors. He is survived by his loving wife Kathy (Lynch) Pickett; his four children, Dean (Angela) Pickett, Daun Kruszynski, Denny (Kelli) Pickett, and Julie (Dre) Hughley and two step-daughters: Janelle (Ken) Hultz and Shannon (Jeremy) Henegar, and twin sisters; Charlene Guth and Charlotte Soncrant. David was a beloved grandfather and uncle to fifteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two nieces, and two nephews. Dave was a hardworking man with a huge heart. Helping others brought him great joy. No matter how challenging the request, he never said “no”. Dave loved playing card games with friends and family, pickle ball at the local courts, traveling, and trips to the casino. His smile was infectious and had the ability to brighten any day! The family would like to thank the health care and compassion provided by the employees of Promedica's Flower Hospital, Toledo Hospital, Hickman Cancer Center, and Ebeid Hospice. A Celebration of Life will be held at Tremainsville Hall, located at 2437 Tremainsville Rd. on Friday, September 2, 2022, from 4 PM until 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Toledo Firefighters Museum or Promedica's Ebeid Hospice.
