After a fun-filled and adventuresome life, David Mullin has joined too many of his friends in the great beyond. He was the son of Edgar and Jean Mullin and grew up with 8 brothers and sisters. Dave's school years were spent at DeVeaux Elementary, DeVilbiss and Bedford High Schools, where he graduated in 1963. Dave finished his education at the University of Toledo.
The past 46 years Dave spent with his wonderful wife, Sue Ann, traveling throughout Europe, scuba diving in the Cayman Islands, and most of all, visiting all 50 states of the "greatest country in the world," many by motorcycle. Dave and Sue Ann spent their days golfing with friends and family all over the USA. Many of the golf adventures were enjoyed by his closest friends, who will always remember laughing as they watched Sue Ann crash many, many golf carts. Dave was also an avid outdoorsman who had a love for clay-shooting and his annual trips to Montana became month-long adventures, which he shared for many years with his childhood friend and Toledo Police Officer, Dennis Richardson.
Dave had a career like no other, spending 33 years with the Toledo Police Department, seeing both the best and worst of humanity. Dave looked forward to going to work whether as an undercover narcotics officer, street officer or Detective in various departments within TPD. Dave never regretted his career choice. Dave always said that he worked with many of TPD's finest and bravest men and women.
Dave leaves behind two sons, David Jr. (USMC) and Michael (U.S. Navy), of whom he couldn't be prouder. Dave will terribly miss his granddaughter, Shannon, a senior at BGSU; and his grandson, Sean, a Staff Sergeant in the USMC.
Dave also leaves behind his beautiful wife, Sue Ann (McKain); and his siblings, Steve (Linda), Leta Fritz (Paul), Leslie Mullin, Lynn Daub, Leigh Ann Lebovitz (Alan), Edward (Joann) and Keith (Lisa).
Per his wishes, there will only be a private service for Dave, however he requests that his friends, family, and all the others whose lives he has impacted, find a way to celebrate his passing in a way that celebrates his life. Dave's life "Was a ball" and he wanted everyone to remember what made them happy about being a part of his life.
In lieu of flowers, Dave asks that you to consider a donation to the Toledo Police Museum, Hospice of NW Ohio or the charity of your choice.
