David E. Malcom

David (Dave) Earl Malcom, 70, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2023. He was surrounded by his loving family after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on January 23, 1952, in Toledo to Donald and Jean (Hammer) Malcom. Dave was a proud graduate of DeVilbiss High School and The University of Toledo.

Dave was a dedicated Local 8 IBEW electrician for 43 years. He owned Malcom Electric for 29 of those years. He was also the owner of Zach’s Place in the late 80’s where he met lifelong friends. For over 65 years, he enjoyed going to his happy place on Cub Lake in Hillsdale, MI. He loved taking his family and friends out for boat rides and sharing Cub Lake history. He was also his grandkids' number one fan when it came to sports and dance.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Brandy Gilliland; and his beloved dog, Prince. He is survived by his wife, Deb; daughters, Ann (Eric) Simon, Sarah (Rob) Folger; son, Bryone Gilliland; 8 grandkids, Brooke (Josh) Bearley, Ben, Sami (Josh), Lindsay, Drake, Frank, Meredith, and Ryleigh; 1 great grandchild, Gunner.

Dave will be celebrated at “Papa’s Picnic” on January 21, 2023 at the Sylvania Moose Lodge #1579, 6072 Main Street, Sylvania from 12-3 p.m. Donations can be made to his favorite charities, St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Shriners Children’s Hospital.
