November 17, 1947 — March 14, 2016

DAVID S. KING, 68, of St. Petersburg, FL formerly of Freeland, MI and a 1966 graduate of Freeland High School passed away Monday, March 14, 2016 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Toledo with his daughters by his side. He leaves his three daughters; Amy (Chris) Reinbolt of Saginaw MI, Laurie (Ryan) Tomkinson of Sylvania OH and Morgan (Cory) Gehrt of Appleton WI. His nine grandchildren; Justin, Evan, Marley, Nicole, Abigail, Andrew, Nathan, Carter and Lillian. In addition to six great-grandchildren. David was born November 17, 1947 in St. Louis Michigan. He was the son of Jean (Cummings) and Bruce Winchell of Freeland, MI. He is survived by six brothers and sisters. Jean (King) Winther of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Thomas (Esther) Winchell of Saginaw, MI, Michelle (Joe) Grant of Freeland, MI, Susan (Anthony) Bosley of Detour, MI, Carol Rames of Richfield, OH and Kim Winchell of Dallas, TX. David retired from the CSX railroad after 33 years of service. He had a lifetime love of trains. He enjoyed photography, music, traveling, the outdoors, Detroit Tiger baseball and sailing. He was known for always having his guitar and harmonica on hand. He was always willing to sing some of his favorites songs from the Beatles, Neil Young, and Bob Dylan to name a few. In his younger years, he would often venture to music festivals with his family. He was known to have a pair of binoculars or a camera around his neck. David always brought everyones sprits up with his quick wit and humor. David was preceded in death by his parents, Jean and Bruce Winchell and grandson, Justin. A memorial service will be held at Westside Cemetery, 8000 N. River Road, Freeland, Michigan on July 18, 2016 at 2:00. Cremation services were provided by Cremation Society of Toledo.
