Darrell Shoupe

Darrell E. Shoupe, age 76, of Erie, Michigan, formerly of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 30, 2025.

He was born on September 17, 1948, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Edwin and Martha Shoupe. Darrell was a lifelong resident of Toledo before settling in Erie in his later years.

Darrell proudly dedicated 45 years of service to General Motors, working as a forklift operator before his well-earned retirement. His work ethic was unmatched, and he took great pride in providing for his family.

He married the love of his life, Joyce (LaCourse) Shoupe, on January 17, 2001. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Darrell was a man who found his greatest joy in the presence of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whether he was joking around, giving advice, or simply listening, he made each of them feel deeply loved. In quieter moments, he enjoyed gaming on his computer, often getting lost in the fun as a way to unwind.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Shoupe; his children, Tina (Jeff) Parkhurst, Tim Shoupe, Dan Shoupe, Jason Thomson, and Brandy (Brad) Bowen; his grandchildren, Vincent, Lacey, Joey, Ashton, Ava, Asia, Isabella, Jacob, Giovanni, Logan, Emmerson, and Aubrey; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Cathy Kachenmeister and Steve Shoupe, as well as his beloved nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, David Shoupe.

Darrell will be remembered for his easygoing nature, his deep love for family, and his quiet strength. His presence was steady and comforting, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life service will be held to honor Darrell on June 7, 2025, at Northtowne Meadows Clubhouse, located at 6255 Telegraph Road, Erie, MI. The family will welcome visitors from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
