It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Darrell Luderman of Monclova Township on January 2, 2024.
Darrell grew up on the family farm with his brothers Duane (Mae) and Ronald (Joanne-deceased). He spent his younger years homesteading and attending St John’s Lutheran Church. After graduating from Fairview High School he studied Morse code and enlisted in the Army National Guard and began his career at Chessie System.
Darrell and Donna Collins married in 1977 and moved to Waterville, Ohio with her 3 children
Rebecca, David and Delbert; where their daughter’s Connie (Michael Pagan)
and Cathy (Luke Snyder) were born and raised. They raised livestock and preserved food with their garden. Everyone loved his pickles, the new babies on the farm, and the big red tractor. He was thrilled to share those big beautiful peppers in the fall. He enjoyed trying new recipes and could be counted on to bring the dessert to family meals.
He spent 42 years at the railroad before soaking up retirement with family vacations and extra time grandchildren. Darrell enjoyed reading, he would read all day if you’d let him; something his grandchildren will cherish for years to come. The peace and quiet of a good spot on the Maumee river for an afternoon picnic and good potato salad soothed his soul. He will be most remembered for his huge heart and love for his family. He had the most kind and genuine soul and is missed deeply.
