Daniel G. Skadeland, Sr., a 76-year-old resident of Oregon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 31, 2025. He was born on April 25, 1949 in Toledo, Ohio to Gunder R Skadeland and Earlene (Grimes) Skadeland. He is survived by his best friend and loyal companion boozer, a rat terrier; his children, Daniel Skadeland Jr., Jeremy (Jennifer) Skadeland, and Amy (James) Baldridge; along with 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. His ex-wife of 30 years, Christine Skadeland, also survives and remained a close companion until his passing. Daniel’s brothers and sisters, David Skadeland, Roberta Wodarski, Gina Rodriguez, and Michael Skadeland, also mourn his loss. Sadly, he was preceded in death by his parents, Gunder R. Skadeland and Earlene (Grimes) Skadeland; his brother, Kenneth Fanelly, John Skadeland, and his sister, Barbara (Skadeland) Alafita.
Daniel graduated from Rossford High School in 1967. At the tender age of 15, he embarked on his long-time career as a chef, working for the Berman Family at Toledo 5 Truck Stop. Later, he moved to Mel Bermans Restaurant, where he nurtured his passion for cooking. In 1999, Daniel’s dream of owning his own restaurant came true when he opened Casa De Oro in Oregon, Ohio. He proudly owned the restaurant for 10 years before deciding to retire.
Daniel was a true sports enthusiast, particularly a football and NASCAR fan. He was also incredibly proud of his remarkable achievement of completing several marathons, where he proudly took first place in his division on several occasions. Additionally, he completed Bike to the Bay multiple times, cherishing his active lifestyle. As per his wishes, there will be no formal services held in his memory.
